High above innsbruck

With the new cable car Patscherkofelbahn you reach the mountain station that serves as the starting point of today‘ s tour. First, you will hike to the Patscherkofel summit lodge, reached either via a well maintained road, or a neatly arranged track. Continue now east towards the mountain restaurant Boscheben that awaits you with delicious Tyrolean cuisine. The beautifully built terrace offers guests not only breath-taking views over the valley Viggartal, but also over Innsbruck and the mesmerising mountain range Nordkette. Furthermore, you will be able to detect the massif Zugspitze as well as the first emerging South Tyrolean summits.

Along the Zirbenweg

The path Zirbenweg is a famous panoramic and nature trail between Glungezer and the Patscherkofel. It is a safe, gentle and botanic hike through the largest primeval pine forest of the Alps. On your way you will find numerous benches, sign-boards with interesting descriptions of hiking trails and a mesmerising vista over the valley Inntal and the mountains of the Nordkette.

Back at the Patscherkofel mountain station, you take again the cable car down to valley.
