Route Day 2
Altitude profile Day 2
Ascent to the Lehnberghaus (1,554 m)
Welcome to the Mieminger Plateau, one of the sunniest regions in Tyrol. Your second day along the Innsbruck Trek starts directly in front of your accommodation (Hotel Bergland in Obsteig). Via a broad hiking trail through the forest, you will soon reach the restaurant Arzkasten – well-known amongst locals and tourists for its huge selection of house-made cakes. Leaving the restaurant behind, you continue your tour towards the mountain hut Lehnberghaus. First, you hike on a forest road that detours shortly after into a narrow path. The path starts to steepen while you are listening to the burbling sound of the stream Sturlbach next to you. After leaving the river bank behind, a very steep section follows. At the top the banner of the Lehnberghaus (1,554 m) welcomes you. Relax on the beautiful terrace and take in the view of the Mieminger mountain range.
Via the Lacke to the summit Wankspitze (2,209 m)
Have you recharged your batteries? Good, because today‘ s tour will live up to its challenging level. At first, you will reach the viewing platform ‚Lacke‘ with the valley Inntal spreading at your feet. You ascend for approximately two hours a steep track until you have finally reached the Wankspitze’s summit cross – a tiny herald of the wild Mieminger mountain range, with a marvellous view over the beautifully arranged summits of the Stubaier and Ötztaler Alps.
Along well-known roads back to the hotel
After you have enjoyed the magnificent panoramic view, you will return to the valley on already-known paths, passing once again the Lehnberghaus and restaurant Arzkasten. Your hiking day ends how it started – at the Hotel Bergland in Obsteig.
